When you’re staying at our pet-friendly Smoky Mountain campground near Dollywood, you might be wondering what to do with your dog if you plan to visit the Pigeon Forge theme park! After all, while RV campers can leave well-behaved dogs in the RV while they’re gone for the day, tent campers are not permitted to leave their pets unattended for extended periods of time. The exciting news is that Dollywood offers excellent accommodations for dogs at Doggywood, right at the park’s front gate! Here are the top 3 things to know about taking your pet to Doggywood at Dollywood:
What to Expect at Doggywood
Since pets are not permitted inside Dollywood (except for service animals), the theme park offers accommodations for dogs at Doggywood! This facility is conveniently located adjacent to Guest Services at Dollywood’s front gate and offers both kennels and cottages. There are 12 kennel runs available and 4 cottages, and the total weight of the dog(s) in a single cottage must be 19 pounds or less (note that dogs may share a kennel or cottage if they live in the same house). Doggywood offers plenty of free water to keep your dog happy throughout the day while you enjoy the theme park! Doggywood reserves the right to refuse to board any dog that appears to be ill.
How to Reserve a Spot
Another one of the top things to know about taking your pet to Doggywood at Dollywood is how to reserve a spot! Since space is limited, reservations are highly recommended and can be made in advance online. When making your reservation, vaccination records are required (after adding the reservation to your cart, you will be asked to complete a Doggywood Waiver where you will upload proof of vaccination record). Doggywood's operating days coincide with Dollywood's operating schedule, and the facility accepts dogs beginning 30 minutes prior to Dollywood's published opening time. Keep in mind that all dogs must be claimed no later than 15 minutes after park closing, and overnight boarding is not available.
Things to Bring for Your Dog
When bringing your dog to Doggywood, make sure to bring an adequate food supply. If you plan on checking on availability on the day of your visit without a reservation, bring a copy of your pet’s vaccination record with you to present at check-in. As an alternative, you may ask your veterinarian's office to email it to [email protected] before you arrive. While visiting Dollywood, head back to Doggywood throughout the day to routinely walk your dog as needed (Doggywood Hosts are unable to walk dogs at the facility). You’ll also want to have some dog waste bags on hand to clean up for your dogs at the enclosed walk area located at the rear of the kennel.
