If you love to take camping trips with your furry companions, you’ll be excited to know that we’re the best pet-friendly campground in the Smokies! After all, we love our four-legged campers almost as much as you do! When planning your vacation, there are just a few things to keep in mind about bringing your pet so that everyone can enjoy a pleasant camping experience! Here are the top 4 things to know about bringing pets to our Smoky Mountain campground:
1. Kinds of Pets That are Permitted
While some campgrounds do not allow pets or restrict them to just dogs, you’ll be pleasantly surprised to know that we allow pets of all types at our Smoky Mountain campground! As long as your pet(s) are not aggressive and can sleep in your tent or RV, then you can bring them along for the fun! In fact, we have seen quite a variety of pets over the years, including cats, rabbits, hedgehogs, lizards, snakes, and even a mini pig! If you have an unusual pet, then we would love to meet it! We do advise against bringing cats while tent camping due to our proximity to Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
2. Number of Pets that Are Allowed Per Campsite
Another one of the top things to know about bringing pets to our Smoky Mountain campground is the number of pets that are allowed per campsite! There is a maximum of 3 pets for RV campers and a maximum of 1 pet for tent campers. For all rental cabins and the rental RV, you are allowed to bring either 2 small dogs or 1 large dog (keep in mind that our bell tents are not pet-friendly). Feel free to bring along a portable pet fence for your site!
3. Fun Things to Do With Your Pet
There are many reasons why pet owners love our campground in the Smoky Mountains! You’ll find plenty of fun activities to do with your pet throughout our property, including two fenced-in dog parks and several pet-friendly walking paths! While leashes are mandatory on the walking paths, they are not required at the dog parks, so your pooch is free to explore! Dogs also love splashing in the river at our beach area and cooling off on a warm summer afternoon! If you decide to head into Great Smoky Mountains National Park, remember that the only dog-friendly trails within the park boundaries are the Gatlinburg Trail and the Oconaluftee River Trail
4. Basic Rules and Regulations
Before heading to our Smoky Mountain campground with your pet, we just ask that you take a look at our pet rules and regulations. The most important things to keep in mind are that pets must always be on a leash (6 feet or less) unless they are in the dog parks, be up-to-date on all vaccines, and be attended to at all times. However, you may leave your pet in an RV while you are gone for the day as long as the pet does not disturb other guests with excessive barking.
