Each tipi has a different name. There is the Dancing Bear Tipi, Little Deer Tipi, and Big Fish Tipi. They all have different animals woven into the material so you can easily tell which tipi is which! On a rock near the tipis, there is a sign with information about the connection of the name to the Smoky Mountains. For Dancing Bear, the sign talks about how the Cherokee thought of black bears as a spiritual guide, but they also used the black bears for several practice things, such as clothing. For Little Deer, the sign talks about how Little Deer was the protector of the deer. When the Cherokee killed a deer, they needed to pray and thank the Deer Spirit. If they did not, the Deer Spirit would give the hunter arthritis so they could not move. The Big Fish tipi sign talks about how fish for the Cherokee symbolized life.

Our tipis also have air conditioning so you stay cool during the summer. Plus, you’re shielded from the wind and rain!
4. Access to Campground Amenities
When you book one of the tipis at our campground in the Smoky Mountains, you will have access to all the great amenities. You can play volleyball, cornhole, or horseshoes together. We have river access so you can easily cool off on a hot day or go fishing. You will have access to free wifi at the pavilion, and there are showers and bathrooms at our bathhouse.
